The University of Cambridge is a collegiate public research university in Cambridge, England. It was founded in 1209 after scholars left the University of Oxford for Cambridge following a dispute with local townspeople, and it received a royal charter from King Henry III in 1231. It is the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world and the third-oldest in continuous operation worldwide. It has thirty-one semi-autonomous constituent colleges and more than 150 departments, faculties and other institutions organised into six schools, and it houses the oldest university press in the world.
