Namaste

Cultural and Socialization Institutions

Namaste, sometimes called namaskara or namaskaram, is a customary manner of respectfully greeting and honoring a person or group, used by people of the Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions. It is usually spoken with a slight bow and the hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointing upward, thumbs close to the chest, a gesture known as Anjali Mudra.
