Military brat

Cultural and Socialization Institutions

A military brat is a child of serving or retired military personnel, associated with a distinct subculture and cultural identity. A military brats childhood or adolescence may be immersed in military culture to the point that the mainstream culture of their home country feels foreign or peripheral, and in many countries with a military brat subculture the family moves great distances between non-combat assignments for much of the childs youth.
