Human-animal marriage

Cultural and Socialization Institutions

Human-animal marriage is a marriage between a human being and a non-human animal, a topic that has long appeared in mythology and fiction. In the 21st century there have been numerous reports worldwide of people marrying pets or other animals, a practice often discussed alongside zoophilia though the two are not necessarily linked; no national law specifically addresses animal-human marriage itself, but sexual acts with an animal are illegal in many countries under animal abuse laws.
