Mary Wollstonecraft was an English writer and philosopher best known for her advocacy of women's rights, most fully developed in her own political and philosophical writing. She is regarded as one of the founding feminist philosophers, and later feminists have drawn on both her published arguments and the example of her own unconventional life. Her work helped establish the case for women's equal claim to reason and education that later feminist theory built upon.
