East and Southeast Asian Peoples

This subcategory gathers social groups of East and Southeast Asia distinguished by language, ancestry, or a documented distinct way of life, including the Han Chinese and the Hakka-speaking Han subgroup, the indigenous Ainu of Japan, Tibetan people, Uyghur, Hmong, and Javanese. It spans majority peoples such as the Han alongside minority and indigenous peoples whose distinct status is documented ethnographically and, in several cases, politically. This group does not cover the states of the region, which Political and Geography carry.
