Karl Korsch (1886-1961) was a German Marxist theoretician and political philosopher recognized as one of the dissidents who challenged the orthodox Marxism of the Second International represented by Karl Kautsky, Georgi Plekhanov and Lenin. Alongside Georg Lukacs, he is considered one of the major figures who laid the groundwork for Western Marxism in the 1920s.
