Henri Lefebvre

Henri Lefebvre (1901-1991) was a French Marxist philosopher and sociologist best known for his critique of everyday life and for developing the concepts of the right to the city and the social production of space. Across a career of more than sixty books and three hundred articles he also wrote on dialectical materialism and alienation, and criticized Stalinism, existentialism and structuralism. He founded or helped found several intellectual journals, including Philosophies, La Revue Marxiste, Arguments and Espaces et Societes.
