Michael Hardt

Michael Hardt, born in 1960, is an American political philosopher and literary theorist best known for the 2000 book Empire, co-written with Antonio Negri, which argues that forces such as class oppression, globalization and the commodification of services carry the potential for social change on an unprecedented scale. He continued the argument in the sequels Multitude: War and Democracy in the Age of Empire and Commonwealth.
