Erich Fromm

Erich Fromm was a German-American social psychologist, psychoanalyst, sociologist and humanistic philosopher who fled Nazi Germany and settled in the United States. He helped found the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and Psychology in New York and was associated with the Frankfurt School of critical theory, bringing psychoanalytic thinking into dialogue with social and political theory. His work connected individual psychology to broader questions about freedom, authority and modern social structure.
