Eduard Bernstein

Eduard Bernstein was a German social democratic politician and socialist theorist, a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, best known for his reformist challenge to orthodox Marxism known as evolutionary socialism or revisionism. He questioned Karl Marx's revolutionary predictions and argued instead for a gradual, parliamentary path toward socialism. His theoretical and political work played a significant role in the later development of social democracy and democratic socialism.
