Camille Paglia

Camille Paglia is an American academic, social critic and feminist known for a body of criticism that runs against much of mainstream contemporary feminist theory. She taught at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia from 1984 until the university closed in 2024, and is the author of Sexual Personae, a study of art and decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson, along with other books. Her writing extends beyond feminism into commentary on American visual art, music, film and post-structuralist theory, much of which she has argued against.
