Josephine Donovan

Josephine Donovan (born 1941) is an American scholar of comparative literature and professor emerita of English, born in Manila, whose work covers feminist theory and criticism, animal ethics, and early modern and nineteenth century American literature, with particular focus on the writer Sarah Orne Jewett and the local colorists. Along with Marti Kheel and Carol J. Adams she helped introduce ecofeminist care theory into animal ethics, and has published ten books, five edited books, more than fifty articles and seven short stories.
