Homemaking

Kinship Institutions

Homemaking is mainly an American and Canadian term for the management of a home, also known as housework, housekeeping, housewifery, home economics or household management. It covers overseeing the day to day organizational operations of a house or estate and managing other domestic concerns, and a person who performs this role without outside employment is called a homemaker, a term covering a housewife, a stay at home mother or a stay at home father.
