Gated Community

Stratification Systems

A gated community is a form of residential community or housing estate with strictly controlled entrances for pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles, often set within a closed perimeter of walls and fences. Gated communities are usually made up of small residential streets and shared amenities, ranging from a single park or common area in a smaller community to enough shared infrastructure that residents of a larger one can carry out most daily activities without leaving. They are a type of common interest development, but are distinct from intentional communities, which are organized around a shared purpose rather than controlled access.
