Political Sociology

Theorists studying the state, political power, democracy, revolution and social movements, and the relation of political institutions to the wider society, in a tradition running from the classical analysis of bureaucracy and elites through contemporary comparative and historical sociology of states and contentious politics. This group gathers theorists of conflict, class and status closure, comparative democratization, state formation, and the organized collective action through which social movements pursue political change.
