Globalization And World-Systems Theory

Theorists studying the economic, political and cultural integration of societies across national borders, including dependency theory's account of core and periphery relations, world-systems analysis of a single interconnected capitalist world economy, and later theories of global cities, transnational networks and cultural globalization. This group gathers theorists whose primary contribution is an account of how the modern world is organized as a single interdependent system rather than a set of separate national societies.
