Ramkrishna Bhattacharya

Ramkrishna Bhattacharya (1947-2022) was an Indian scholar of ancient Indian philosophy, born and based in Kolkata, who served as Reader in English at Ananda Mohan College and later as a visiting professor at the Indian Council of Philosophical Research. He wrote 27 books and more than 175 research papers on Indian and European literature, Bangla and Sanskrit textual criticism, the history of science and modern India, and philosophy, with particular attention to the Carvaka or Lokayata school of materialism and rationalism; his major work was Studies on the Carvaka/Lokayata (2009).
