Michael A. Lebowitz

Michael A. Lebowitz (1937-2023) was a Marxist economist and professor emeritus of economics at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, who taught economic history and comparative economic systems. His book Beyond Capital: Marxs Political Economy of the Working Class won the 2004 Deutscher Memorial Prize for the best and most innovative writing in the Marxist tradition, developing his theme of the simultaneous changing of circumstances and self-change; he also wrote on socialism and human development and took part in intellectual work supporting Venezuelas Bolivarian Revolution.
