Enver Hoxha was an Albanian politician, revolutionary and communist political theorist who led Albania from 1944 until his death in 1985. He served as First Secretary of the Party of Labour of Albania from 1941 onward, while also chairing the Democratic Front of Albania and commanding the Albanian Peoples Army. He additionally served as Albania twenty-second Prime Minister from 1944 to 1954, at times also holding the foreign affairs and defence portfolios.
