Lysander Spooner (1808-1887) was an American abolitionist, lawyer, essayist and natural rights legal theorist associated with the Boston anarchist tradition and identified politically with individualist anarchism. His writings, including The Unconstitutionality of Slavery and No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority, shaped both left-libertarian and right-libertarian political theory. He also founded the American Letter Mail Company to compete directly with the United States Postal Service.
