Luigi Galleani

Luigi Galleani (1861-1931) was an Italian insurrectionary anarchist and communist best known for advocating propaganda of the deed, a strategy of political assassination and violent attack against the state. After fleeing Italy in 1901 he became a leading figure among Italian immigrant anarchists in the United States, publishing the radical newspaper Cronaca Sovversiva and gathering a following known as the Galleanisti. Deported back to Italy for his opposition to the First World War, he later published The End of Anarchism?, defending anarchist communism against reformist socialist criticism and rejecting any form of formal organization as inherently corrupting.
