John Zerzan, born in 1943, is an American philosopher, author and radio host who founded the political philosophy of anarcho-primitivism. His work criticizes agricultural civilization as inherently oppressive and looks to hunter-gatherer ways of life as a model for what a free society could be, extending his critique to domestication and to symbolic thought itself, including language, numbers, art and the concept of time.
