Postmodern And Late-Modern Social Theory

Theorists analyzing the distinctive social conditions of late or postmodernity, including the erosion of stable social structures, the proliferation of risk, reflexivity and uncertainty, and the diffusion of power through discourse and everyday practice rather than through a single sovereign center. This group gathers theorists of structuration, risk society, liquid modernity, and the analysis of power and knowledge as productive rather than merely repressive forces, whose work is united by a shared diagnosis of a break with the assumptions of classical and mid-century sociology.
