Sharon Zukin is an American sociologist, born in 1946, who specializes in modern urban life and is professor emerita of sociology at Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She has chaired the American Sociological Association's sections on community and urban sociology and on consumers and consumption, and has held visiting professorships at Tongji University in Shanghai, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Western Sydney.
