Murray Bookchin

Murray Bookchin was an American social theorist, author, orator, historian and political philosopher influenced by G. W. F. Hegel, Karl Marx and Peter Kropotkin, and an early pioneer of the environmental movement. He formulated the theory of social ecology, arguing that ecological problems are rooted in social hierarchy and domination, and developed it within anarchist, libertarian socialist and ecological thought across two dozen books. Later in life he grew critical of what he saw as an increasingly apolitical lifestylism within the anarchist movement, stopped calling himself an anarchist, and founded his own libertarian socialist framework called communalism.
