Narcissistic parent

A narcissistic parent, sometimes called a toxic parent, is a parent affected by narcissism or narcissistic personality disorder. Such parents are typically exclusively and possessively close to their children and feel threatened by their childrens growing independence, tending to be self-absorbed to the point of grandiosity, inflexible, and lacking the empathy that child-raising requires.
