Elder abuse is the mistreatment, neglect, exploitation or manipulation of old people, a definition adopted by the World Health Organization from one first put forward by the UK charity Hourglass. Laws protecting elderly people from abuse are similar to, and related to, laws protecting other dependent adults from abuse.
