DINK is an acronym for Double Income No Kids, describing couples who are voluntarily childless while both partners earn an income, allowing greater economic comfort than couples raising children on a comparable combined income. The term was coined at the height of yuppie culture in the 1980s, and the Great Recession later reinforced the trend as more couples delayed or forwent having children.
